PLUSHNYLON Mag: Thank you for your time Stacy.
SI: Thank you for the opportunity.
PNM: What inspired the “Boy Meets Girl®” logo?
SI: The first time I met my husband’s parents was for dinner at their apartment.  While they were giving me the tour, I noticed a picture frame containing silhouettes of their three children from when they were younger.  My parents
owned a similar picture of my sister and I from when we were about the same age.  I thought about us and how we still both had these young, playful, carefree versions of ourselves inside of us and I knew right then and there my brand would be called Boy Meets Girl® and that I’d use our silhouettes for the logo.  The logo driven product came first and we have been growing the collection from there.
PNM: Is BMG what you visioned it to be today?
SI: YES,  it will only get better in 2011!
PNM: What are your favorite Fall trends?
SI: Layering, faux leather mixing and red accents.
PNM: What is your favorite piece from your line?
SI: Jumpers! I love pieces that I can jump right into and go. I am always on the go. ..so jumpers are easy and fashionable and always comfortable.
PNM: What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs entering this industry?
SI: 1. Be prepared to work like you’ve never worked before.
2.  Being a talented designer is not enough. You need to learn how to be an effective marketer, networker, salesperson, service provider, writer, stylist, merchandiser and psychiatrist too.
3.  Work with multiple vendors and never stop sourcing potential new ones.  It gives you leverage and protects you from catastrophes.
4. Last, but not least… BELIEVE!

PNM: Who is your customer?
SI: The collection [of tops, dresses, sweaters, sweatshirts & sweatpants, jumpers, skirts, outerwear & accessories] appeals to a confident, playful clientele with a carefree spirit.  Our customers like to laugh and don’t take themselves too seriously.
PNM: What can we expect from BMG in 2011?
SI: I’d like our website’s e-commerce platform to become one of the most sophisticated yet user-friendly direct sales platforms in fashion.  Of course, retail is crucial to our success and we want to continue to have a strong presence in key boutiques and department stores.  That said, I think we would be doing the brand a disservice if we didn’t take advantage of our own website’s capabilities internally. Ohh… and if you follow any of my social media sites, you know that I desperately want to be on Oprah before the show ends… its always been a dream of mine so if anyone out there can help me, get in touch with me on Facebook, Twitter, or via my blog!

PNM: We will do so, Thank you again for your time Stacy.
